Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion enter beta; Docs, Slides and Design open to everyone
Anthropic launches live data dashboards and code-based animated explainers in beta, while Docs, Slides and Design go free for all Claude users.
On 8 October 2026, Anthropic pushed two new tools into beta and quietly removed the beta label from three others. The net result: Claude can now connect to your data warehouse, build a live dashboard from a plain-English question, animate a report into a short video, and let your free-tier colleagues do all of it alongside paid users.
Here is what each piece does, who gets it, and what it actually means for your day-to-day work.
Claude Dashboards: ask a question, get a live chart
Claude Dashboards connects to data platforms including Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake, as well as CRMs such as Salesforce. You describe what you want to see in plain language, and Claude writes the query, builds the chart, and keeps it current. Every chart shows the SQL behind it and a timestamp of the last data refresh, so you can verify exactly where each number came from.
The practical effect is that getting a view of company data no longer requires filing a request with a data team or knowing SQL. That is genuinely useful for analysts, product managers, and anyone else who needs answers quickly but does not live in a query editor.
Once a dashboard exists, you can send it to tools such as Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma for deeper analysis. Looker, monday.com and Tableau integrations are listed as coming soon.
Dashboards is in beta on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans from 8 October 2026. Enterprise organisations get it switched off by default; an owner has to turn it on under Organisation settings, in the Artifacts section.
Claude Motion: animated explainers without a video model
Claude Motion takes reports, charts or walkthroughs and turns them into short animated MP4 files. Anthropic is specific about how it works: there is no video generation model involved. Instead, Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images, then exports the result as an MP4.
The distinction matters for a couple of reasons. First, there is no invented footage and no AI-generated people, which removes a category of risk for organisations that are careful about what they publish. Second, because the output is code-backed, you can change a word, a number or a timing value without redoing the whole animation. The editable components stay intact until you choose to export.
To use it, type /motion in the Claude message box and the template appears. Finished files can be opened in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions listed as coming soon.
Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans only. It is also off by default for Enterprise and needs to be enabled by an administrator.
Docs, Slides and Design: out of beta, now on every plan including Free
Anthropic introduced Docs, Slides and Design in beta on 16 September 2026. In the roughly three weeks that followed, users created more than 45 million documents, decks and designs, which works out to around two million per day. On the strength of that usage and the feedback it generated, Anthropic has removed the beta label and opened all three tools to every Claude plan, including Free.
The feature set has grown alongside the volume. The Artifacts platform now supports team editing, so multiple people and Claude can work on the same document, deck or design simultaneously. Admins can allow external sharing. PowerPoint and PDF exports preserve formatting, and Google Slides exports produce editable files rather than static images. Mobile editing is also supported.
One date worth noting: the standalone claude.ai/design site will shut down on 14 December 2026. Design has been part of the main Claude conversation interface since 16 September 2026, so the functionality is not going away, but any public links from the standalone site will stop working on that date and chats from there will not migrate.
Who gets what, at a glance
| Tool | Status from 8 October 2026 | Plans |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Dashboards | Beta | Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise |
| Claude Motion | Beta | Team, Enterprise |
| Claude Docs, Slides, Design | Generally available | Free, Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise |
What this means for you
If you are on a free plan, the headline is straightforward: you can now draft documents, build decks and create designs in Claude without a subscription. That is a meaningful expansion of what the free tier can do.
If you are on a paid plan, Dashboards is the feature most likely to save real time. The ability to connect a data warehouse and get an auditable, auto-refreshing chart from a natural-language question removes a step that previously required either SQL knowledge or a request to someone who had it. The query transparency, showing the SQL behind every chart, also makes it easier to trust and verify what you are looking at.
For Team and Enterprise users, Motion fills a specific gap: turning analysis or process documentation into something that communicates better than a static slide, without the overhead of a dedicated video production tool. The code-backed approach means it stays editable rather than becoming a locked asset the moment it is generated.
Enterprise administrators should check their Artifacts settings. Dashboards and Motion arrive disabled and require a manual opt-in. Docs, Slides and Design will switch on automatically for Enterprise on 15 October 2026, though admins can enable them earlier if they prefer.
The broader direction here is clear: Anthropic is building Claude into a platform for producing and sharing work, not just generating text. Whether that makes it the right tool for your organisation depends on your existing stack, but the pace of capability additions over the past few weeks suggests this is an area Anthropic is treating as a priority.
