Gemini Enterprise Mobile App Hits General Availability for Google Identity Organisations
The Gemini Enterprise iOS and Android app is now GA for Google Identity orgs, with QR-code provisioning making rollout simple for field workers.
The Gemini Enterprise mobile app for iOS and Android has reached general availability for organisations using Google Identity as their identity provider. If your business runs on Google Identity and you have been waiting for a production-ready, SLA-backed deployment before rolling this out, that moment has arrived.
What the app actually does
Gemini Enterprise is Google’s enterprise AI platform, aimed at giving employees access to AI agents, internal data search, and workflow tools within the guardrails of your organisation’s security and access controls. Think of it as the Gemini experience you might already know, but connected to your company’s data and agents rather than the public web.
On mobile, users get access to:
- Enterprise agents, including first-party agents for Data Insights and Science, plus third-party agents from Google’s partner ecosystem
- Enterprise data search across sources including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and SAP
- Voice features, so users can interact hands-free
- Interactive actions, allowing users to complete tasks directly within the app rather than just retrieving information
The app was built with field workers and non-desk employees firmly in mind. Someone on a factory floor, at a job site, or moving between customer locations can now interact with the same enterprise AI capabilities that a desk-based colleague accesses through a browser.
QR-code provisioning: the practical bit that matters most
One of the more quietly significant parts of this release is how users get set up. Administrators can display a configuration QR code directly on the Gemini Enterprise web app homepage. Users scan the code, the app configures itself, and they are in. No IT ticket, no manual configuration, no back-and-forth with a help desk.
For organisations with large field workforces, this is the kind of detail that determines whether a rollout actually succeeds. Frictionless onboarding means higher adoption rates. Higher adoption rates mean the investment in the platform pays off.
Three ways to provision the app
QR codes are the simplest option, but administrators have three provisioning methods to choose from:
- QR code scanned from the web app homepage
- Deeplink URL for direct access
- MDM deployment via a Mobile Device Management solution such as Google Endpoint Management or Microsoft Intune
The MDM route is the most controlled option and suits organisations with managed device fleets. The Gemini Enterprise admin panel generates a deeplink URL containing the required configuration parameters, which map directly to AppConfig parameters in your MDM solution. For Google Identity deployments, the deeplink looks like https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/mobile?cid=123&cid_location=global, with config_id and location as the key parameters to configure.
What about Microsoft Entra ID organisations?
If your organisation uses Microsoft Entra ID as its identity provider, the mobile app is available but under a GA with allowlist arrangement. That means access is gated and requires approval rather than being openly available. You will need to contact your Google Cloud sales representative to request access.
The Entra ID configuration also requires additional parameters beyond what Google Identity needs, specifically identity_provider, tenant_id, client_id, and project_id.
Security underneath
For enterprises evaluating whether to trust a mobile app with access to internal data, the security architecture is worth understanding. Gemini Enterprise enforces:
- Cloud Identity and Access Management, restricting access to provisioned admins and users only
- Document-level access controls, so users only see data they are already permitted to see in source systems
- Model Armor, Google’s built-in screening layer for AI prompts and responses, covering prompt injection attempts, jailbreaking, and sensitive data detection
These controls apply on mobile the same way they do on the web app.
A few other things worth noting
Alongside the mobile GA, a couple of related updates landed in the same release:
- Agent sharing with Google Identity groups is now GA. End users can share agents built in Agent Designer with specific Google Identity groups, provided an administrator has enabled this feature. Useful if teams want to collaborate around shared agents without giving everyone access to everything.
- Slack integration is GA. Administrators can connect Gemini Enterprise to Slack, giving users the ability to query enterprise data and agents via direct messages, slash commands, and channel mentions.
- Jira and Confluence federated data stores are now GA in Gemini Enterprise, expanding the range of sources available for enterprise search.
What this means for your organisation
If you are a Google Identity shop and you have been running Gemini Enterprise in preview or watching from the sidelines, GA status is a meaningful signal. Full Google Cloud SLA coverage, no allowlist restrictions, and a provisioning flow designed for scale rather than just pilots.
The QR-code onboarding in particular removes one of the most common barriers to mobile enterprise AI adoption: the gap between “we have deployed this” and “our users are actually using this”. For field-heavy industries like logistics, manufacturing, utilities, or professional services, that gap has historically swallowed a lot of enterprise software investments whole.
For Entra ID organisations, the path is clear but requires an extra step. Reach out to Google Cloud sales to get on the allowlist while you plan your deployment.
