AI product notes: week of 10 August 2026
A weekly roundup of smaller AI product updates, release-note items, and admin changes worth tracking.
Smaller product updates do not always need a full article, but they can still matter if you own the platform, run the admin console, or build against the API.
Updates
- OpenAI: ChatGPT desktop app for Linux launches in public preview with ChatGPT Work and Codex on Ubuntu, Debian, and Fedora (15 August 2026). Linux developers who have been running Codex through the web or API can now use the full ChatGPT + Codex desktop experience natively, though the preview label means some features and distros may still be missing, early reports flag high idle RAM usage.
- Anthropic: Claude Code adds auto-continue checkbox: sessions resume automatically when the usage window resets (14 August 2026). Long-running Claude Code tasks that regularly hit usage limits will now resume themselves automatically, reducing the workflow interruption of hitting the rolling cap.
- Anthropic: Claude Tag for Slack now reads full channel context and fires proactive replies using memory and standing instructions (14 August 2026). Claude in Slack can now act more like a teammate that has read the thread, rather than a bot that only responds to direct mentions, which makes it more useful for async team channels but also means admins should review standing instructions to avoid unsolicited replies in sensitive channels.
- Google: Gemini app adds Gemini 3.7 Flash as an available model option (14 August 2026). Gemini app users now have access to the 3.7 Flash model for faster, lower-cost interactions without switching to AI Studio or the API.
- OpenAI: GPT-5.6 Terra returning malformed or unexpected responses: OpenAI investigating live incident (14 August 2026). Any production system routing API calls through GPT-5.6 Terra should add response-validation checks and consider a fallback model until OpenAI confirms the incident is fully resolved.
- Anthropic: Claude Code bug-fix release: redraw freeze, Windows Git detection, GitHub Actions runner, and slash-command polish (12 August 2026). Teams using Claude Code in GitHub Actions CI pipelines with allowed_non_write_users, or on Windows with non-standard Git install paths, should update to pick up these fixes before they block automated workflows.
- Google: Gemini Robotics ER 1.6 preview model on Agent Platform deprecated with August 31 shutdown (10 August 2026). Teams running robotics or embodied-AI workloads on gemini-robotics-er-1.6-preview have until August 31 to switch to a supported alternative, calls to the retired endpoint will fail after that date.
- Microsoft: Microsoft 365 Copilot declarative agents now support multiple co-owners rolling out worldwide in August 2026 (10 August 2026). Teams that built Copilot agents tied to a single creator are no longer one resignation away from losing edit access, any member can now be added as a co-owner with full rights, and agents can be published directly to the entire organisation’s agent store.
- OpenAI: OpenAI reports increased ChatGPT error rates on August 10: resolved same day (10 August 2026). The August 10 ChatGPT disruption was short-lived and fully resolved, but enterprise teams relying on ChatGPT for production pipelines should verify no automated jobs failed silently during the affected window.
